Gail
L. Bongiovanni, M.D. received her undergraduate degree
from Smith College, Northampton, Massachusetts, cum laude, in
1972, and her M.D. from Case Western University, Cleveland, Ohio
in 1977. She completed her internship and residency in
Internal Medicine at the Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston,
Massachusetts. She completed her fellowship in
Gastroenterology at Columbia University College of Physicians and
Surgeons, New York City, New York in 1980. Dr. Bongiovanni
served as Director of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy at the University
of Cincinnati from 1982-1989 and then went into private
practice. Her principal office location is in Mt. Auburn
and her additional office is located at Kenwood. She serves
on the medical staffs of Jewish Hospital and Christ Hospital and
holds privileges at Bethesda Hospital, Clermont Mercy Hospital,
Mercy Anderson Hospital, and Children's Hospital. Dr.
Bongiovanni is fluent in Spanish and has authored two books, Medical
Spanish and Clinical Gastroenterology, both published
by McGraw-Hill. Dr. Bongiovanni is board certified in both
Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. She is interested in
all aspects of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, and she has a
special interest in inflammatory bowel disease. Dr. Bongiovanni and her husband Everett Nissly enjoy adventure
mountain vacations. Also, they are both avid runners and are
members of the Digestive Health Network's Flying Pig Marathon
relay team. Dr. Bongiovanni was recognized as one of the
"Best Doctors" in Cincinnati for several years running in
Cincinnati
Magazine and is a recipient of the Crohn's Colitis
Foundation Physician Leadership Award.
