James
P. Cranley was raised in Western Hills, a suburb of
Cincinnati and attended St. Xavier High School. He received
both his undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of
Cincinnati. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine
at Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati and his fellowship
in Gastroenterology at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, Cleveland,
Ohio where he also served
as Chief Resident. While at the Cleveland Clinic, Dr. Cranley received the Peskin Fellowship Award for his research in
malignant colon polyps and presented his paper at the American
Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy national meeting in New York
City. He has authored a chapter on malignant polyps in
Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Clinics of North America. Dr. Cranley entered private practice
in 1985 and has been the Medical Director of the Endoscopy Unit at Good
Samaritan Hospital in 1990. His primary office is located at
317 Howell Avenue in Clifton. He has a satellite office in Western Hills at 5049 Crookshank Road.
Dr. Cranley serves on the medical staff of Good Samaritan
Hospital and has privileges at Mercy Hospital Western Hills, Mercy
Hospital Mt. Airy, Mercy Hospital Fairfield and Deaconess Hospital.
He is actively involved teaching Gastroenterology to second-year
Internal Medicine residents at Good Samaritan Hospital. He is board
certified in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology and is a
Fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology. Dr.
Cranley was recognized as one of the "Best Doctors" in Cincinnati in
an issue of Cincinnati Magazine. Dr. Cranley enjoys all aspects of patient care and has a special
interest in colon cancer and colon polyps, gastrointestinal bleeding,
abdominal pain, and biliary endoscopy ( the removal of gallstones
utilizing the endoscope). When it's time to relax, Dr.
Cranley loves spending time with his wife Susan, their three
children, and their large extended family, most of whom live in
town. He is an avid golfer and enjoys skiing and
cycling.
