Stephen L. Ionna, M.D. received his B.S. in biology from the University of Kentucky in 1979 and then spent two years doing graduate research in endocrinology at the University of Cincinnati.  He received his M.D. from the University of Cincinnati in 1985.  He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1988.  He completed his fellowship in Gastroenterology at the Presbyterian University of Pennsylvania Medical Center in 1990, and then entered private practice.  His primary office is located at 6620 Clough Pike in Anderson Township.  He maintains additional offices in the Christ Hospital Medical Office Building and in Kenwood at 8260 North Creek near Kenwood Towne Center.  He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.  Dr. Ionna enjoys all aspects of patient care, and he has a special interest in colon cancer, colon polyps, intestinal bleeding, abdominal pain, and biliary endoscopy (the removal of gallstones with an endoscope).  Dr. Ionna and his wife Julie have three children.  In his free time, Dr. Ionna enjoys golfing and coaching his children's basketball and soccer teams.  He enjoys time with his family, especially holidays and vacations, when his entire family gathers for relaxation, food, and celebration.
